Creative Response

Every Mid-Week Teaching series culminates in a night of "creative response," when the artists of our church respond to the truth they've learned through creative means in order to help us remember and reflect upon the Word of God.

  • "Evidence of the holy spirit"

    Medium: Adobe Illustrator

    Teaching Series: 1 John

Brief: "This graph is a visual representation of three traits that all need to be consistently evident in our lives in order for us to be confident in eternal life. All of these characteristics are made possible through the power of the Holy Spirit in us."

  • "I Am Yours"

    Medium: Watercolor, Adobe Photoshop

    Teaching Series: Matthew

Brief: "This piece includes a self portrait 'sinking' into water. It references Matthew 14 when Jesus and Peter walk on water. Jesus not only accepts us as the flawed beings we are, but pursues us and helps us even when our faith waivers."

  • "the path"

    Medium: Oil Paint, Mixed Medium

    Teaching Series: Matthew

Brief: Mt. 15:21-28 "O Woman, great is your faith." God calls the broken, needy, desperate, and oppressed to Himself. In the midst of struggle and weakness we have the help of the Holy Spirit. Christ gives us a path to freedom, peace and rest so we can dance and rejoice in knowing His great love and sovereignty. (Blue represents the Holy Spirit and the stones were made by women who have been rescued from sex trafficking.)

  • "Come to Me"

    Medium: Oil Paint, Mixed Medium

    Teaching Series: Matthew

Brief: Jesus is my rest. When I come to Jesus he washes over me like a sea of color. Following Him is light and easy, not burdensome ... much like this painting.

  • "Elevate Your Eyes"

    Medium: Acrylic paint, Adobe Photoshop

    Teaching Series: 1 Peter

Brief: "The background texture in this piece is created by words that distract us from God and His truth--things that weigh us down. 'Elevate your eyes' is written over these words to show that when we look up, into the face of Jesus, the things that distract us from God's goodness and freedom melt away."
